What are Diplomas?

Diplomas are new employer designed qualifications available in three different levels and offer a mix of theoretical and practical learning. The Diploma will allow you to specialise in your chosen topic area, plus it includes essential skills such as English, maths and ICT. Completing a Diploma will allow you to progress to further study, university or employment.

What Diplomas are available?

From September 2008 there will be 5 Diplomas available in selected areas of the country. Check with your school if you are interested in studying a course. By the year 2010 there should be a range of 14 Diplomas to choose from.

Where will I study?

In addition to learning within the classroom you may spend time at a college or in a workplace. You will also spend time on work experience with an employer giving you the skills required for a head start in business life.

How long will I study?

Diplomas are generally 2 years of full-time studying however if you are aged 16 or over and are studying a Foundation or Higher Diploma, you should be able to complete it in less time.
